A back plate is the normally rectangular shaped plate that fits on the door and to which the door handle is mounted. If there is a locking mechanism on the door, the back plate will hide the holes needed to fit the lock. If there is a key to the lock, the back plate will also have a key hole to where the key in inserted. These plates have both a functional purpose – they hide all the holes in the door near the handles and also protect the wood from scratches made by keys being put in the keyhole as well and complementing the looks of the handle.

Are you looking for new cabinets on a limited budget? One way to get the results you want without spending too much money is to focus on the cabinet pull. As long as the quality of the wood and the construction are good, you can save money by going in for a simple design and forget about things like the grain of the wood if you have a cabinet pull that will attract and hold the eye. If the cabinet pull is the center of visual appeal, people will not pay much attention to the rest of the external appearance and in fact, using an elaborate pull along with an elaborate design may make the whole effect appear overdone.

Without hardware, your front door or your back door is nothing but a plank of wood. Door hardware provides a functional and decorative element to your doors. Door hardware includes hinges, latches, locks, knobs, pulls, deadbolts, levers and knockers. Your door hinges primarily perform a functional role, and enable your door to open and close with ease. Door knobs and lever handles enable you to swing your doors open and shut. Latches enable you to lock your door, keeping you safe. Knobs and handles can be levered or fixed; keyed or non-keyed. Knobs, handles, backplate and knockers come in beautiful designs, and can enhance the look of your front door. Door knockers can provide a rich accent and can set the theme of your entire home decor.
