A Knob – Take its Place in the Home

When you consider the thousands of different products in your home, some very high tech and complicated systems are in the mix; products that we couldn’t conceive of doing without, like the furnace and the air conditioner. The electrical system and the plumbing system are each far more complicated than most people can comprehend, they make our lives more comfortable and less stressful. But consider the lowly knob. Perhaps the least sophisticated piece of technology in your house, the knob achieves maximum functionality with minimal technology. Virtually no training is involved in the use of a knob; it’s practically defines intuitive. When you walk into a room and you see a computer, or even a blender or an oven, you’re compelled to pause before you attempt to use them, to ensure you actually know how. Not so with the knob. You walk into a room and you see a knob, instantly you know how it works. Chances are you can even do it blindfolded, try that with a microwave and somebody’s dinner is going to be ruined. The real beauty of a knob is that it lends character to your cabinets without demanding anything in return. No electricity no complicated cleaning process and they almost never break down.
